A Survivor’s Game

48″ x 30″ original acrylic painting

At long last — my first painting of a polar bear on the shores of Hudson’s Bay thanks to my recent wildlife expedition there in November.

It was an amazing moment to witness firsthand this beautiful polar bear in its natural habitat foraging along the coastline, waiting for the bay to freeze. The coastal flats were packed with ice.

The polar bear population in this area of Hudson’s Bay has dropped by over 300 in the last 20 years, and estimates are that, globally, up to 30% of polar bears could vanish before climate change moderates itself — a very sad reality.
